As the Year comes to a Close, we Reflect…
by Gail Arno, CMC, ECM Director of Care Management
Welcome to December and the close of a year filled with change, challenge, chaos, and community. At Elder Care Management we started the year 2020 facing change within as our leadership shifted and we were necessarily regrouping. We faced change right out of the gate, not realizing that bigger and steeper challenges were in front of us. Those challenges arrived and continued to knock on each of our doors throughout the year. Despite the change and challenge we faced our steadfast team of Care Managers dove in and made adjustment after adjustment to meet the needs of our clients. Our amazing team set out to meet the demands of the pandemic that we have all faced and to make sure that our clients not merely survived but also thrived. This is what we feel Care Management is all about; adjustment, creative approach, collaboration, determination, follow-through, outcomes, and huge appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity and honor we have in supporting our clients.
This holiday season will certainly look different for us all, yet we hope that each of us will take a moment to appreciate the many blessings we have in our lives and reflect on the effort we have made to persevere through this challenging time. Many have faced losses that are more than difficult to overcome, being asked to try and find comfort in their memories of loved ones. Be kind to yourselves and to those around you. Self-care is just that and we all need to take care of ourselves before we can take care of others. Use the new tools you have developed this year to reach out and stay in the lives of your loved ones, young and old. What a wonderful way to end a very overwhelming year!
All of us at ECM would like to thank our clients, their families and responsible parties, the senior industry around us, and our community for the support and faith you have put in us. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our clients, to support their extended family members and to be a part of the world of aging. We look forward to the best in 2021, knowing that more change and challenge is headed our way. We as a collaborative team of Care Managers are ready and willing to tackle on behalf of our clients whatever the world throws our way.
Happy Holidays and many thanks to each of you, here is to a healthy and safe New Year.
